WINNERS ARE GRINNERS

Pete Jacobs

Yes it’s a cliché, but take a look at the smile on Pete’s face as he crosses the line to win the Ironman 70.3 held in the Philippines earlier this month. As the defending champion it’s always a challenge to back up with a consecutive win, so this was especially sweet for Pete who lead from the start and came home strong. Pete’s been no stranger to the podium in 2011 having taken home the title at Ironman Port Macquarie, an outright win at the NSW Longcourse Championships and settling for a 3rd place in the hotly contested Singapore 70.3 event. But with a string of wins under his belt, it’s KONA that has his undivided attention with only 13 weeks till the gun goes off in one of the world’s most respected and gruelling sporting events.

At just 30 years of age, Pete Jacobs has the triathlon world at his feet. Recognised as one of the brightest talents on the circuit and feared for his ability to swim away from the pack and ride out front alone. He set the fastest run time for Kona in 2010, which happened to also be the third fasted run EVER in the history of the race. It didn’t go unnoticed and Pete will head to Kona under the spotlight with the eyes of the world on him for an expected podium finish.

So what’s a champ like Pete chose to wear when he’s racing? Rudy Project of course! Coming on board with Rudy at Port Macquarie, PJ has had the world’s most technically cool eyewear to help him focus on his race goals since May. During training Pete grabs his Noyz Racing Pro glasses. Fitted with Photochromatic lenses (lenses darken with exposure to UV in relation to the amount and intensity of the sunlight), they are perfect for race day too ensuring no matter what the conditions are, he will only need one pair of glasses from the moment he starts the ride, right through to the finish line.
